Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused former Trinamool Congress legislator Humayun Kabir, who is now running his own party and contesting in the upcoming West Bengal elections, of being a pawn of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to indirectly aid in building a Babri-style mosque in the state. Shah made these remarks during a campaign rally in Falakata, Alipurduar district, warning that the Babri Mosque would not be constructed on that land. He also criticized Mamata Banerjee for allegedly promoting her nephew over the past 15 years without directly naming him.
In another rally at Rajganj, Jalpaiguri district, Shah stated that if the BJP comes to power in West Bengal, they would identify and deport illegal infiltrators, similar to what was done in Assam. He urged people to vote for the BJP, promising to take action against those who aided illegal settlers and anti-social elements supported by the ruling party.
Shah emphasized that Mamata Banerjee’s days in power were numbered, citing recent BJP victories in Bihar and Odisha as precursors to a change in West Bengal’s leadership.
