Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will join a significant farmers’ conference in Rewa on December 25. The event, coinciding with former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary, will focus on natural farming. A natural farming project at Basaman Mama Gaushala in Rewa will be inaugurated at 3 PM, followed by a large-scale farmers’ conference near the sanctuary.
Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla and other dignitaries, including Hemant Khandelwal, will also be present at the event. The guests will tour the gaushala using e-carts and visit an exhibition by the Agriculture Department. The program will honor progressive farmers who have adopted natural farming practices. Basaman Mama Gaushala, which houses over 7,000 animals, utilizes daily cow dung production for manufacturing organic fertilizers and other eco-friendly products.
The event in Rewa aligns with Madhya Pradesh’s broader initiatives for the “Year of Agriculture” in 2026. The state aims to boost farmers’ income through coordinated efforts in agriculture and allied sectors. Focus areas include promoting climate-resilient natural farming, ensuring fair prices, advancing technology and mechanization, digital agriculture, and diversification for new employment opportunities through value addition. Madhya Pradesh is a leading state nationally in maize, soybean, and pulse production.
Madhya Pradesh has procured 241.31 lakh metric tons of grains from 48.51 lakh farmers in the last two years, with a disbursement of Rs. 81,768 crore. Notably, the soyabean “Price Difference Payment Scheme” has benefited over 267,000 farmers. Crop insurance claims worth Rs. 1,237.54 crore have been settled for 70 lakh applications. The state has also made combined Central and state Kisan Samman Nidhi payments of Rs. 6,756 crore to 168 lakh farmers since April 2025.
Various schemes like Rani Durgavati Shri Anna Promotion, Traditional Agricultural Development, National Mission on Natural Farming, and Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana are driving sustainable growth in Madhya Pradesh.
