Home Minister Amit Shah commemorated Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj on his birth anniversary, lauding the Maratha leader for liberating key regions from Mughal rule and prevailing over their forces in numerous battles.
In a social media post in Hindi and Marathi, Shah praised Sambhaji’s early commitment to patriotism and righteousness, his unwavering stand against religious conversions, and his ultimate sacrifice for principles like “swadharma, swabhasha, and swaraj.”
Shah highlighted Sambhaji’s upbringing with patriotic values, defense of righteousness, and the pursuit of Hindavi Swaraj, emphasizing how he freed strategic territories from Mughal dominance and emerged victorious in various clashes with the Mughal army.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari also paid homage to the Maratha ruler, describing him as a symbol of courage and valor on the anniversary of Swarajya Rakshak Dharmaveer Chhatrapati Shri Sambhaji Maharaj.
Sambhaji Maharaj, Shivaji Maharaj’s eldest son, continued his father’s military legacy, navigating challenges from the Mughal Empire, the Siddis of Janjira, the Portuguese, and other regional forces while ruling from 1681 to 1689 as the second king of the Maratha Empire.
