Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi are set to visit Chennai for election campaigning in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Shah will arrive in Chennai from Kochi at 3.15 p.m. and then head to Puducherry by helicopter. He is expected to support National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates during his visit.
Shah will return to Chennai around 6.10 p.m. after his engagements in Puducherry. He will meet with senior BJP leaders from Tamil Nadu to discuss election strategies before departing for New Delhi in the evening. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to land in Chennai at 10.00 a.m. from New Delhi and will focus on campaign planning with Tamil Nadu Congress Committee leaders.
Gandhi will then travel to Puducherry to participate in election campaigning for Congress and alliance candidates. His return schedule to Chennai has not been confirmed. Both leaders passing through the same airport on the same day has led to increased security measures at the airport, including a review of protocols and VIP pass issuance.
