Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared the successful eradication of Naxalism from Bastar and the entire country before the set deadline of March 31, 2026. He commended the efforts and sacrifices of security forces for this achievement during a press conference in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh. Shah highlighted the increased anti-Naxal operations’ effectiveness since the BJP government took office in Chhattisgarh in December 2023.
He mentioned that the previous Congress government in Chhattisgarh, led by Bhupesh Baghel, did not support the Naxal eradication efforts. Shah emphasized that Bastar is now free from Naxalism, ensuring peace and development in the region. He announced plans to convert a significant number of security camps in Bastar into integrated service centers named “Veer Shahid Gundadhur Seva Kendras,” offering various essential services and acting as employment hubs.
Gunda Dhur, a tribal leader from Bastar, was recognized for his historical role in leading a rebellion against the British in 1910. Shah disclosed initiatives to empower tribal women through animal husbandry, providing cows and buffaloes for dairy farming. The government aims to establish a robust dairy network in Bastar within the next six months, along with other development projects like mobile tower installations, post offices, schools, and skill development programs.
The Central Zonal Council’s 26th meeting in Jagdalpur was attended by four chief ministers, including Vishnu Deo Sai, Mohan Yadav, Yogi Adityanath, and Pushkar Singh Dhami, showcasing regional cooperation and development efforts.
