Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the BJP’s recent political achievements in West Bengal, describing it as a historic day for the party’s followers. Shah, speaking at an event in Karnataka, emphasized the significance of the “saffron flag” being raised in a region known for eminent personalities like Sri Aurobindo and Swami Vivekananda. The event also honored former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa for his 50 years of public service.
Shah highlighted the parallel between the felicitation ceremony and the BJP’s government formation in West Bengal on the same day. He praised Yediyurappa’s modesty and dedication, urging young party members to emulate his commitment. Shah shared anecdotes of campaigning with Yediyurappa and lauded his meticulous approach of recording people’s names and issues in a pocket diary.
Additionally, Shah commended Yediyurappa for his support towards religious institutions and memorials dedicated to martyrs. He credited Yediyurappa for elevating Bengaluru’s global standing and fostering communal harmony in Karnataka. Shah also acknowledged Yediyurappa’s decision to prioritize leading Karnataka over joining the Union government, highlighting his dedication to the state.
Furthermore, Shah addressed a controversy regarding a promised memorial in Chitradurga, assuring its construction despite political changes. He paid homage to historical figures of Chitradurga, praising Madakari Nayaka for defending the region’s independence and Onake Obavva for her bravery in combat. Shah expressed gratitude towards Obavva for inspiring women nationwide with her courageous actions.
