Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the Siliguri Corridor, once known for infiltration, is now a secure border area. He mentioned this transformation in a social media post following his inspection of the Border Out Post (BOP) in North Bengal.
Shah highlighted the government’s efforts to enhance border security by increasing the number of watchtowers and deploying advanced technology. He chaired a meeting in Siliguri, Darjeeling district, with West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari to discuss strengthening security along the Indo-Bangladesh borders.
During his visit, Shah inaugurated development projects worth Rs 77.06 crore, reviewed security arrangements, and engaged with BSF personnel. His visit to West Bengal is focused on administrative matters, with no political events scheduled.
