Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the Border Security Force (BSF) for its dedication, noting that over 2,000 BSF personnel have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty over the past 60 years. He commended the BSF for safeguarding India’s challenging borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh, enduring extreme weather conditions ranging from minus 45 to plus 45 degrees.
Shah highlighted the diverse terrains where BSF personnel serve, including the marshlands of Sir Creek, deserts of Rajasthan, snowy regions of Kashmir, and forested areas of the Northeast and Sundarbans. He emphasized the BSF’s crucial role as the “First Line of Defence” for the country, acknowledging the sacrifices made by 2,000 jawans in fulfilling this duty.
The Home Minister expressed the nation’s deep gratitude and respect for the BSF, emphasizing that the people sleep peacefully due to the force’s vigilant protection. Shah also mentioned a public outreach center in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district aimed at familiarizing civilians with the BSF’s work, attracting over 2.5 lakh visitors monthly and inspiring pride in potential future BSF recruits.
During his visit, Shah was accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, IB Director Tapan Kumar Deka, and BSF Director General Praveen Kumar.
