Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for his ‘poisonous snake’ comment directed at the BJP and RSS. Shah, addressing a large rally in Assam, expressed concern over the Congress party’s divisive language and urged the people to respond through the upcoming polls. He emphasized the need to marginalize the Congress for the nation’s well-being.
Shah highlighted the BJP government’s efforts in Assam to identify and eliminate infiltrators, reassuring the public of their commitment to this cause. The controversy stemmed from Kharge’s comparison of the BJP and RSS to a ‘poisonous snake’ during a rally in Kerala, drawing strong backlash from the BJP for inciting violence.
The BJP spokesperson condemned Kharge’s remarks, accusing him of encouraging violence against BJP and RSS members. Referring to the Congress as the “Indian Jihadi Congress,” he criticized the party for its dangerous rhetoric and called for action by the Election Commission. The political tension escalated further with Kharge’s derogatory comments about Gujaratis during an election campaign in Kerala.
Shah, in response to Kharge’s remarks, defended Gujarat’s legacy and denounced the Congress for insulting the state and its contributions to the nation. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel condemned the Congress for its anti-Gujarat sentiment, demanding an apology for the offensive remarks made by Kharge.
