Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has instructed officials to focus on a 70% beautification and 30% long-life tree plantation model for lake development projects in the Gandhinagar Parliamentary constituency. This directive came during a review meeting chaired by Shah, attended by Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and senior government officials. The meeting covered various ongoing infrastructure, healthcare, and urban planning initiatives, emphasizing the integration of recreational facilities, environmental sustainability, and community involvement in lake redevelopment projects.
Shah stressed that lake projects should not only enhance aesthetics but also serve as vibrant community hubs. He urged officials to design plans that combine recreational spaces with environmental consciousness and public engagement. The Home Minister highlighted the importance of allocating 70% of lake surroundings for beautification and reserving 30% for planting long-lasting trees. Additionally, he proposed the formation of committees involving youth and seniors to contribute to the development plans around the lakes.
The review meeting also addressed the modernization of the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway, focusing on enhancing road safety and reducing travel time for commuters. Shah emphasized the need for structured planning to create a fast, safe, and pollution-free transportation system with minimal traffic disruptions. Authorities were directed to collaborate on traffic management strategies and future transport planning, with an emphasis on incorporating eco-friendly elements in infrastructure projects along the highway corridor.
Furthermore, discussions included plans for introducing public amenities like food courts, lighting facilities, and boating services at selected lakefronts. Progress on lake interlinking projects within the Parliamentary constituency was also reviewed. The meeting highlighted the importance of addressing waterlogging issues in Kalol, Sanand, and Bavla before the monsoon season, with Shah urging immediate action to resolve drainage and flood-related challenges to ensure residents’ safety during heavy rains.
