Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed deep sorrow over the fire incident in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar area, calling it “extremely distressing” and offering condolences to the affected families. Shah, in a social media post, extended his thoughts to those impacted by the tragic event. He assured that authorities are working diligently to aid the injured and provide essential medical assistance.

The fire, which occurred around 4 a.m. on Sunday, was reportedly caused by an explosion in an AC unit of a building in B-Block of the upscale colony. The incident resulted in the loss of nine lives, including a toddler, with several others sustaining injuries. Firefighters dispatched 14 fire engines to the scene, rescuing 15 individuals during the operation.

Upon receiving the fire alert, police personnel, along with the Vivek Vihar SHO and ACP, promptly responded to the location. The fire was contained by around 6 a.m., and the injured were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. During the rescue efforts, 15 people were saved, two of whom had minor injuries and were taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.
