Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah recently launched various civic infrastructure and public utility projects in Ahmedabad, totaling around Rs 404.63 crore. These projects include the introduction of 155 new air-conditioned electric buses, housing initiatives, water supply works, road infrastructure improvements, civic digitization efforts, and public amenities. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) organized the event, highlighting the projects’ alignment with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the support of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
The event showcased the completion of 22 projects valued at Rs 304.99 crore and the groundbreaking of seven new projects worth Rs 99.64 crore. Notable completions included the addition of 155 electric buses to the city’s public transport fleet, residential infrastructure developments, and the launch of digitized civic services. The projects aim to enhance urban living standards and cater to diverse municipal needs.
Among the inaugurated projects were residential quarters, community halls, stormwater pumping stations, and digitized civic services. The initiatives also extended beyond municipal limits, with the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) unveiling road improvements and water infrastructure enhancements. These endeavors underpin the city’s commitment to holistic urban development and improved public services.
The foundation stone was laid for seven new projects, including the redevelopment of residential units, construction of BRTS depots, establishment of public amenities like libraries and parks, and conservation efforts for environmental assets. The initiatives reflect a comprehensive approach to urban development, focusing on public welfare, sustainable infrastructure, and environmental conservation in Ahmedabad.
