Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah unveiled two new books, “The Bench, the Bar, and the Bizarre” and “The Lawful and the Awful,” authored by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta in New Delhi. The ceremony, graced by Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant and other dignitaries, celebrated the literary contributions. Shah commended India’s democratic progress over the 76-year Constitutional journey, emphasizing public acceptance of legislative changes since 1947.
The Home Minister highlighted the robust foundation of Indian democracy and the effective functioning of the multi-party democratic Parliamentary system. He praised the Constitution, citizens, and Judiciary for their profound impact on the nation’s governance. Shah emphasized the Constitution’s role as a safeguard against injustice and a beacon of hope for justice seekers. He urged collaboration between the Judiciary and Executive to address system loopholes through a structured approach.
Shah lauded Tushar Mehta’s books for offering a unique perspective on the legal profession, blending humor and insightful analysis. The books delve into courtroom poetry, judicial quirks, and the influence of technology on law. The event, coinciding with Mother’s Day, held sentimental value as Mehta dedicated the books to his mother. Shah’s social media post praised the books for shedding light on democracy and institutional significance through engaging anecdotes.
