Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to participate in the Buddha Purnima celebrations in Ladakh by paying homage to the sacred relics of Lord Buddha on Friday. Shah’s visit to Ladakh coincides with the auspicious occasion, where he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to witness the holy relics. He emphasized the significance of making these relics easily accessible for the people of Ladakh over the next two weeks.
Shah’s arrival in Ladakh was marked by a warm reception from various dignitaries, including Ladakh Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, government officials, and local residents in traditional attire. The visit holds special importance as it aligns with the 2569th Buddha Purnima celebration, showcasing Shah’s commitment to Ladakh’s development and inspiring progress in meeting the region’s aspirations.
The presence of the Piprahwa relics of Lord Buddha in Leh has drawn large crowds eager to pay their respects. Shah’s visit to Ladakh, following last year’s protests for statehood and inclusion under the Sixth Schedule, signifies the government’s intent to engage in constructive dialogue with Ladakh representatives. This engagement aims to address local concerns and safeguard Ladakh’s environment and cultural heritage.
During his Ladakh visit, Amit Shah is also scheduled to inaugurate significant projects in the dairy and cooperative sectors, further underscoring the government’s focus on the region’s development and welfare.
