Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir, honoring martyred police personnel and providing compassionate appointment letters to their families. Addressing Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in Kathua district, Shah stressed the importance of enhancing border security with modern tools and the need for frontline personnel to remain vigilant. He highlighted the necessity of countering emerging challenges with advanced technological solutions.
During his visit, Shah commended the armed forces for their role in Operation Sindoor, which led to the destruction of 118 enemy posts and three terror launch pads along the border. He emphasized the shared objective of the government and BSF in ensuring border security, noting the evolving nature of challenges faced today compared to the past. Shah underscored the significance of adapting to advanced technology to address new security threats effectively.
Accompanied by officials including Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and BSF Director General Praveen Kumar, Shah toured the border outposts of Gurnam and Bobiyian in the Hiranagar sector. His visit coincided with increased efforts to bolster border management against terrorist infiltration and illegal activities. Recent anti-terror operations in Kathua, Udhampur, and Kishtwar resulted in the elimination of four Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists.
In a separate event, Shah paid homage to martyred police personnel in Jammu, meeting their families at Lok Bhawan and presenting compassionate appointment letters. The Home Minister’s three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir includes a review of developmental projects and the inauguration of several initiatives.
