Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Ladakh for a two-day visit and expressed anticipation for the upcoming Buddha Purnima celebrations. He mentioned his eagerness to join devotees in honoring the sacred relics of Lord Buddha on this auspicious occasion. Shah highlighted the significance of the day for Ladakh and the opportunity it presents for people to pay their respects to the revered relics.
Upon his arrival, Shah was greeted by Ladakh Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, government officials, elected representatives, and local residents, many of whom were attired in traditional clothing. The visit coincides with the 2569th Buddha Purnima celebration, during which Shah is scheduled to pay homage to the holy relics of Lord Buddha. Lieutenant Governor Saxena expressed optimism that Shah’s visit and development initiatives would inspire progress in meeting Ladakh’s aspirations.
Following the recent arrival of Lord Buddha’s relics in Leh, a large number of individuals have gathered to offer their respects. This visit marks Shah’s first trip to Ladakh since last year’s protests over statehood demands, where tragic incidents occurred. The government aims to engage in discussions with Ladakh representatives to address concerns and safeguard the region’s environment and cultural heritage. Additionally, Shah is set to launch significant dairy and cooperative projects during his Ladakh visit.
