Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared that if the Bharatiya Janata Party wins in West Bengal, the international borders with Bangladesh, currently open and unfenced, will be sealed with barbed fencing within 45 days. Shah emphasized the priority of expelling illegal infiltrators from the state, accusing the current government of deliberately keeping the borders porous.

During campaign rallies in East and West Midnapore districts, Shah reiterated the BJP’s commitment to rid West Bengal and the nation of illegal infiltrators. He criticized the Trinamool Congress for alleged extortion, corruption, and crimes against women, promising to hold wrongdoers accountable. Shah also pledged to address issues like mismanagement of relief funds and illegal sand mining if the BJP comes to power.
