Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah cautioned that the practice of slashing fares by rival ride-hailing companies to counter ‘Bharat Taxi’ could harm their financial performance and market value. Shah, speaking at the launch of Bharat Taxi in Gujarat, highlighted the importance of sustainable pricing strategies. He emphasized the long-term goal of Bharat Taxi to eradicate exploitation and establish a cooperative owned by its members.
Drawing parallels with successful cooperative models like Amul and IFFCO, Shah underscored the resilience of cooperatives against private competition. He pointed out that unfair competition leading to financial losses would eventually impact the balance sheets and valuations of companies. Shah reiterated the commitment of Bharat Taxi to its cooperative structure, aiming to empower drivers and ensure their prosperity.
Shah outlined the future plans of Bharat Taxi, including facilitating loans, insurance, and business expansion for its members. He urged drivers to prioritize service, member participation, and sustainability over short-term pricing tactics for the cooperative’s success in the long run.
