Industrialist Anand Mahindra commended Indian Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa for his impressive win against World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen at Norway Chess. This victory added another chapter to Praggnanandhaa’s growing rivalry with Carlsen, showcasing his skill and composure. Praggnanandhaa became only the second Indian player, after Viswanathan Anand, to defeat Carlsen twice in the same tournament.

The game against Carlsen remained intense until Praggnanandhaa capitalized on a crucial moment, securing the win and staying competitive for the Norway Chess title.
The victory propelled Praggnanandhaa to 12 points, positioning him well in the tournament. Meanwhile, Gukesh Dommaraju and Divya Deshmukh faced defeats against Alireza Firouzja and Bibisara Assaubayeva, respectively. Wesley So leads the Norway Chess standings with 14 points, followed closely by Alireza Firouzja and Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
