The Chief Electoral Officer of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has initiated the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, starting on December 23, 2025, and running until January 22, 2026. This revision aims to ensure an accurate Draft Electoral Roll, currently comprising 2,46,390 electors in the Union Territory.
During the revision period, significant engagement has been observed, especially from political parties and individual electors. National political parties like the BJP and INC have actively participated through their Booth Level Agents, submitting claims for inclusion and objections for exclusion.
In total, 678 Booth Level Agents from various political parties have mobilized, resulting in 50 claims for inclusion without any objections for exclusion. The CEO’s office emphasized the importance of obtaining the necessary statutory declarations for the final electoral roll inclusion process.
Prior to the draft roll publication, the CEO’s office received applications for additions and deletions. Subsequently, a notable increase in direct submissions from electors was recorded, with a higher number of inclusion applications compared to exclusion applications.
The ongoing revision process has seen a surge in public participation, reflecting the community’s interest in refining the electoral database for transparent and fair elections in the Union Territory. Booth Level Officers are assisting electors in completing necessary formalities, and residents are encouraged to verify their details in the draft electoral roll.
As the process advances smoothly with no major objections reported, officials plan to issue daily bulletins to monitor progress and ensure transparency leading up to the deadline.
