The Chief Electoral Officer of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has released the Draft Electoral Roll as part of the Special Intensive Revision exercise to ensure a clean and comprehensive voter list for upcoming elections. The enumeration phase, conducted from November 4 to December 18, 2025, witnessed active participation, with over 2,46,390 electors submitting their Enumeration Forms out of a total of 3,10,404 listed as of October 27, 2025, resulting in a participation rate of 79.38 percent.
The success of this initiative is attributed to the collaborative efforts of District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant EROs, and Booth Level Officers across 411 polling booths, as stated by Chief Electoral Officer L Kumar. Political parties also played a crucial role by appointing Booth Level Agents to assist in the process, with a focus on ensuring no eligible voter was overlooked. Special measures were implemented in remote areas, including the provision of internet hotspots and special boats for officers in isolated islands to facilitate the enumeration process.
Efforts to engage young electors who will turn 18 by January 1, 2026, were emphasized, encouraging them to apply via Form-6. The draft roll excludes 64,014 names due to various reasons, with South Andaman District having the highest number of exclusions. Genuine electors have the opportunity to rectify any discrepancies during the claims and objections period from December 23, 2025, to January 22, 2026, with a transparent process in place for appeals and final publication of the electoral roll.
