Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call by cutting down his official convoy size by more than 50%. The convoy now consists of only four vehicles, down from the previous 12. This decision came after the Chief Minister instructed officials to reduce convoy vehicles by 50% to save fuel.
The reduced convoy was observed during the Chief Minister’s travel from his residence to the Secretariat for a Cabinet meeting. An official statement confirmed that Naidu will continue with this smaller convoy in the future. He has also urged ministers and public representatives to follow suit and reduce their convoys to save fuel.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has also downsized his convoy, aligning with the Prime Minister’s call to cut down on fuel usage. Videos of the reduced convoy were shared by the Deputy Chief Minister’s office as he headed to the Cabinet meeting. Both Naidu and Kalyan emphasized the importance of public cooperation in reducing petrol and diesel usage as per Modi’s guidance.
State IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, along with other ministers, have also decreased the size of their convoys in response to Modi’s appeal for austerity amid global tensions. Lokesh, Naidu’s son, directed his security staff to reduce his convoy vehicles by 50%, resulting in a convoy of only two vehicles. Several state ministers have followed suit in reducing the number of vehicles in their convoys in line with the Chief Minister’s call for frugality.
