Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi to discuss state-related issues, ongoing projects, and funding support. He also engaged with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on matters concerning the state’s development priorities and financial assistance for projects. Additionally, Naidu expressed gratitude to Union Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy for the support in revitalizing the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
Chandrababu Naidu highlighted the successful turnaround of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, attributing it to the combined efforts of the Central Government, Andhra Pradesh government, and the plant’s workforce. He emphasized the importance of continued support from the Union Government to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the steel plant. Moreover, discussions were held with Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar regarding Andhra Pradesh’s Swachh Andhra initiative under the Swachh Bharat programme.
The Chief Minister outlined the state’s initiatives to achieve zero landfill status and strengthen waste management systems. He presented a detailed action plan under the Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0, seeking approval for the Centre’s share to support the implementation of the Zero Landfill action plan. The meeting aimed to align Andhra Pradesh’s sustainability goals with national urban sanitation objectives, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts between the Centre and the state for long-term environmental outcomes.
