The Central Government has approved the extension of Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad’s tenure for an additional six months, from June 1 to November 30, 2026. This decision was made in response to a request from the State Government. The extension was granted under Rule 16(1) of the All India Services (Death-cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958.
Rajesh Kumar Yadav, Under Secretary to the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, informed the State Government’s General Administration Department about the extension through a letter. Originally set to retire at the end of this month, Sai Prasad’s tenure was extended based on the State Government’s proposal to utilize his services for a longer period.
Sai Prasad assumed office as the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh on February 28, 2026, succeeding K Vijayanand. Prior to this role, he served as the Special Chief Secretary (Water Resources). A 1991 batch IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh Cadre, Sai Prasad has held various positions, including Chief Commissioner of Land Administration.
