Andhra Pradesh CM Congratulates Chess Players on Winning Bronze Medals

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu praised Koneru Humpy for securing the bronze medal at the FIDE World Rapid Championships. He commended her perseverance and excellence on the global stage, hailing her as an inspiration to millions in India. Additionally, he lauded Arjun Erigaisi for his bronze win, emphasizing his unique achievement as the sole Indian male player to accomplish this since Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand.

Sports Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, Home Minister V. Anitha, Roads and Buildings Minister B. C. Janardhan Reddy, and Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Chairman A. Ravi Naidu also extended their congratulations to Koneru Humpy. Minister Ramprasad Reddy highlighted Humpy’s remarkable track record of five medals at the FIDE World Rapid Championship, expressing pride in her accomplishments and describing her as a role model for female athletes.

SAAP Chairman Ravi Naidu echoed the sentiment, emphasizing Humpy’s significant contributions to India’s chess legacy through her five medals at the FIDE Championship. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar joined in the accolades, celebrating Arjun Erigaisi’s bronze win and acknowledging his distinction as the only Indian male player to reach the podium at the event after Viswanathan Anand. Bandi Sanjay also praised Koneru Humpy for her continued success in bringing honor to India.
