Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu initiated the ‘Jaladhara’ program, a 100-day action plan aimed at ensuring water security across the state. The program focuses on tasks like desilting tanks, repairing canals, recharging groundwater, and water conservation. CM Naidu kickstarted the initiative in Yadiki, Anantapur district, known for its water scarcity issues.
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of public participation in water conservation efforts. He emphasized the role of 60,000 water user association members and urged every citizen to contribute to the cause. By leveraging natural resources for water storage, he advocated for more effective water management practices.
CM Naidu called for collective efforts to raise groundwater levels before the monsoon season, ensuring water availability at depths of 6 meters pre-monsoon and less than 3 meters post-monsoon. He stressed the significance of maximizing reservoir capacity to meet water demands promptly. The state’s focus on water conservation measures has led to a notable increase in groundwater levels, benefiting regions like Anantapur.
