Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President, Y.S. Sharmila Reddy, expressed concerns about the NDA government’s handling of the economy, institutions, and public trust. She supported Rahul Gandhi’s views on the weakening of India’s economic foundations and democratic institutions under the BJP-led NDA government.
Sharmila highlighted the impact of global economic uncertainty on India, emphasizing that the Modi government had eroded the strong economy, credible institutions, and public trust it inherited. She pointed out issues like unemployment, financial stress, inequality, and challenges faced by small businesses, revealing structural weaknesses in the Indian economy.
The Congress leader criticized the BJP government for prioritizing image-building over sustainable growth factors like job creation and institutional strength. She warned that governance cannot rely solely on slogans and publicity, as economic resilience has been compromised, leaving ordinary Indians vulnerable to global economic downturns.
Sharmila also raised concerns about the erosion of democratic and constitutional institutions in India. She noted a decline in accountability, transparency, and public confidence due to the weakening of these institutions, leading to a growing sense of distrust among citizens. The APCC President stressed the importance of addressing real challenges and creating opportunities for the country’s youth instead of relying on narratives and publicity campaigns.
