Andhra Pradesh Police have taken action against a suspended police officer regarding the disappearance and alleged death of a young man. The mother of the missing youth, Gade Sai Krishna, filed a complaint leading to charges of wrongful confinement, murder, and tampering with evidence against Nagaraju, a suspended Circle Inspector.
The case, under specific sections of Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), was registered following allegations by Vijaya Lakshmi that her son was subjected to torture and died while in custody. She has urged the government to conduct a judicial inquiry and hold all responsible parties accountable.
Sai Krishna was reportedly taken into custody for questioning on May 9 but never returned home. Despite a High Court order to produce him by June 15, the police failed to do so, prompting further directives to present him by June 29. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has initiated a probe by a senior IPS officer and suspended Circle Inspector Nagaraju in response.
The investigation is now under the supervision of East Godavari district Superintendent of Police, D. Narasimha Kishore, who is set to meet with top police officials before commencing inquiries at the Krishna Lanka police station. Opposition leader Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has called for a CBI investigation, implicating senior police officials in the incident.
