Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the state’s firm stance against drug trafficking on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. He affirmed the government’s dedication to combatting drug-related crimes and ensuring justice for offenders. Naidu stressed the importance of protecting the youth and their future from the harms of drug abuse.
State Minister for Human Resources Development Nara Lokesh echoed the commitment of the Andhra Pradesh government to eradicate the drug menace completely. Through stringent law enforcement measures, enhanced border control, and community rehabilitation programs, the state aims to dismantle drug networks and provide legal livelihood options. Lokesh urged the participation of citizens, educational institutions, and civil society in creating a safe and drug-free environment.
The government’s initiatives, including Operation Chaitanyam that eradicated cannabis cultivation in a district, were highlighted by Minister Lokesh. Various enforcement agencies collaborated on ‘Operation Garuda’ to regulate the sale of narcotics and psychotropic substances. Notable achievements include conducting cordon-and-search operations, inspecting individuals, and seizing significant quantities of illicit substances.
