Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed joy over the Centre’s gazette notification establishing the South Coast Railway Zone with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters. The official operations of the zone are scheduled to begin on June 1, 2026. The reorganization merging sections like Palasa-Ichchapuram into the Visakhapatnam Division is expected to enhance transportation in North Andhra.
The Chief Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for accepting the state’s request and issuing the historic gazette. Agriculture minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu hailed the establishment of the Visakha Railway Zone as a victory for North Andhra, achieved through collaborative efforts. He emphasized the significance of merging key sections and the positive impact on the region’s development.
Atchannaidu commended civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu for his dedication to the cause and acknowledged the Central Government’s support for backward regions’ progress. The upcoming commencement of operations from June 1 and the construction of a permanent office building in Arilova mark significant milestones in the region’s development. The efforts were aimed at fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Uttarandhra.
