Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter Zahara, aged 21, has officially requested to remove “Pitt” from her surname. The petition for a name change was filed in the Superior Court of California on April 28. Zahara’s decision follows her brother Maddox Jolie, who also legally removed his father’s last name after their parents’ separation in 2016.
Zahara is one of the six children shared by Jolie and Pitt, including Maddox, Pax, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne. Zahara becomes the third child of the former couple to seek the removal of “Pitt” from their last name, following Maddox and Shiloh. A source close to Pitt expressed sadness over the public nature of the children’s name changes.
Zahara had hinted at a possible name change on various occasions, notably during her recent college graduation in Atlanta. While her name was listed as “Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt” in the program, she was called “Zahara Marley Jolie” during the ceremony. In a video from August 2024, Zahara introduced herself without the “Pitt” surname while joining a sorority.
