Veteran actor Anil Kapoor recently honored the 42nd anniversary of his 1984 film “Marshaal” with a heartfelt social media tribute. Sharing a photo collage from the movie on Instagram, Anil expressed his enduring connection to the film, stating that the fire ignited by “Marshaal” still burns brightly after more than four decades.
In an interesting revelation, it is believed that the role played by Anil Kapoor in the movie was initially offered to Amitabh Bachchan and then to Kamal Haasan. Following their refusals, Anil eventually took on the part, which became a significant milestone in his career.
Directed and produced by Yash Chopra, “Marshaal” featured stalwarts like Dilip Kumar, Waheeda Rehman, and Rati Agnihotri in pivotal roles. Notably, this project marked Anil’s first on-screen collaboration with the legendary Dilip Kumar, adding to the film’s historical significance.
“Marshaal” narrates the story of Vinod Kumar, portrayed by Dilip Kumar, a law-abiding citizen who turns to a life of crime seeking vengeance. The film was an adaptation of the Marathi play “Ashroonchi Zhali Phule” by Vasant Kanetkar, showcasing a blend of drama and action that resonated with audiences.
Shifting gears to Anil Kapoor’s current projects, he is set to lead Suresh Triveni’s “Subedaar,” where he will portray the character of Arjun Singh, a former soldier navigating the challenges of civilian life while reconciling with his daughter Shyama, played by Radhikka Madan. Additionally, Anil will feature prominently in the upcoming Netflix series “Family Business,” sharing the screen with Vijay Varma, Rhea Chakraborty, Neha Dhupia, and Dhruv Sehgal, showcasing his versatility across different platforms.
