The anti-encroachment demolition drive near Bandra East railway station has restarted with significant security measures after a recent escalation. Around 85% of the demolition work has been completed, targeting illegal encroachments in the area. Over 1,200 security personnel are ensuring law and order at the site.

CPRO Vineet Abhishek mentioned that the demolition progress stands at nearly 85%, emphasizing the humane approach and safety precautions taken during the operation. The situation turned tense with clashes during the demolition of a religious structure, leading to police intervention. Mumbai Police filed an FIR against several individuals in connection with the violence.

Despite the unrest, the demolition drive continues with heightened security. Railway authorities confirmed no additional religious structures are slated for demolition. Nearly 60% of the identified illegal structures have already been removed, with the operation progressing swiftly. The reclaimed land is estimated to hold a commercial value of approximately Rs 600 crore.

Security personnel are on high alert in the area to maintain control during the ongoing operation, aimed at clearing encroachments from railway land in Bandra East.
