In a significant crackdown on Rajasthan’s narcotics underworld, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has dismantled major drug trafficking networks, arresting 557 individuals and seizing narcotics and assets exceeding Rs 679 crore within a year of its formation. The AGTF, established under the state government’s “zero-tolerance” policy against narcotics, has been actively combating organised drug syndicates across Rajasthan, including intercepting cross-border smuggling operations involving heroin, weapons, and drones. This specialized unit has registered 389 cases and made substantial recoveries, including opium, doda-post, smack, MD drugs, ganja, and narcotic tablets.
The AGTF, formed in August 2025 to intensify action against drug mafias and criminal syndicates, has emerged as a key player in Rajasthan’s fight against drug trafficking and organized crime. With a focus on illegal narcotics cultivation and manufacturing units, the task force has successfully dismantled operations, leading to the seizure of opium plants, opium pods, doda chura, and cannabis plants. Notable achievements include the arrest of 68 individuals in 27 operations, with a particular emphasis on combating cross-border drug smuggling, resulting in the apprehension of 31 traffickers and significant recoveries of heroin, pistols, and drones.
Moreover, the AGTF has tracked down and apprehended wanted criminals involved in drug trafficking while conducting awareness campaigns to educate the public, especially youth, about the perils of substance abuse. The state government’s stringent anti-drug strategy is evident in the increased NDPS Act cases, reflecting a commitment to creating a ‘drug-free’ Rajasthan through sustained enforcement efforts and public awareness initiatives.
