The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Madhya Pradesh has conducted consecutive raids, leading to the arrest of Naeem Qureshi, the alleged mastermind and senior agent. Qureshi was apprehended in Uttar Pradesh’s Sarangpur area and has been remanded to four days of ATS custody for further questioning. He is accused of sharing sensitive information with foreign elements, training an individual from Bhopal, and planning his travel to Afghanistan.
During the investigation, incriminating evidence such as jihadist literature, suspicious documents, and communication records with Afghanistan and Pakistan were discovered. ATS sources revealed that the accused had been in contact with numbers from these countries and had used an application to communicate with foreign contacts. Moreover, photographs and videos from various Uttar Pradesh cities were allegedly being sent to Pakistan, hinting at a broader cross-state network.
Authorities suspect that the module may have a presence in multiple states, possibly operating as a sleeper cell. Efforts are underway to identify other members and unravel the full scope of the alleged network. The Madhya Pradesh ATS operation also resulted in the arrest of Haji Azhar from Dhar and the interrogation of a suspect from Nuh, Haryana, in Bhopal.
The investigation has uncovered a handler in Saudi Arabia inciting youths for jihad-related activities. As the probe continues, more arrests are anticipated, with agencies scrutinizing digital evidence, financial transactions, and communication records linked to the case.
