The Union Government has named Anurag Jain, a senior IAS officer, as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog for a two-year term. Jain, a 1989-batch IAS officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, will take charge immediately. He will hold the CEO position for two years or until further orders.
Jain, with almost forty years of administrative experience, has served in significant roles at the Centre and in the Madhya Pradesh state government. His expertise includes managing infrastructure development, industrial policy, investment promotion, and governance reforms. As the CEO of NITI Aayog, Jain will supervise the operations of the government’s key policy institution, influencing India’s long-term development agenda.
In his new role, Jain will focus on promoting evidence-based policymaking, enhancing cooperative and competitive federalism, and collaborating with states and central ministries on crucial reforms and flagship initiatives. His appointment aligns with NITI Aayog’s efforts to drive policy recommendations for economic growth, innovation, governance improvement, and the realization of Viksit Bharat. Jain’s vast administrative background is expected to bring continuity and reinforce the institution’s role in policy formulation and implementation.
Jain’s tenure begins as the NITI Aayog’s ‘Education to Employment and Enterprise’ Standing Committee intensifies efforts to identify actionable recommendations for enhancing employability, fostering entrepreneurship, strengthening skilling relevant to industries, and accelerating growth in the services sector.
