AR Rahman invited Sonu Nigam to his studio to record a track for the upcoming movie “Batwara 1947.” Rahman expressed his excitement about having the National Award-winning singer on board for the song “On Tabassum.” The film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, features stars like Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Ali Fazal, and Shabana Azmi.
The movie, previously named “Lahore 1947,” explores the Partition through personal relationships affected by communal violence. It follows a Hindu family relocating from Lahore to India and discovering a Muslim woman still living in their new home. Sonu Nigam, known for his diverse music genres, has recorded over 6,000 songs in more than 32 languages throughout his career.
Sonu Nigam’s musical journey began in the early 1990s, with his first film song in 1993. His versatile talent spans classical, devotional, ghazals, qawwali, rock, and pop music. Nigam’s album “Deewana” in 1999 gained immense popularity. Additionally, he ventured into acting in 2002 with the film “Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani.”
