In a daring daylight robbery attempt, armed men targeted a Bank of India branch in Jharkhand’s Godda district. The criminals were thwarted by the quick response of bank staff and security measures, causing them to flee. During the incident, a security guard was injured by a gunshot but is now in stable condition after receiving medical attention.
Eyewitnesses reported that four armed men entered the bank in Mahagama, firing shots to create chaos among customers and staff. They even tried to take the security guard’s weapon during a scuffle. The bank’s manager and staff immediately activated emergency protocols, securing the cash counter and locker rooms as a precautionary measure.
Despite the robbers’ attempt, they were unable to access any cash or valuables due to the tightened security and alertness of the staff. The criminals fled the scene while firing shots, prompting a swift response from the Mahagama police station. A search operation was initiated, and CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify the suspects.
Located near the Bihar border, the Mahagama region has seen previous incidents of robberies targeting bank customers. To prevent further occurrences, police have increased surveillance and deployed additional security personnel. Authorities are confident in identifying and apprehending the culprits soon.
