Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth visited Jammu and Kashmir for the first time on Tuesday. During his trip, he met with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to assess the security situation in the region. General Seth, accompanied by Lieutenant General Balbir Singh, discussed security matters with the J&K L-G at Lok Bhavan.
General Seth’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir marked his initial official trip to the area since assuming command of the Indian Army. He engaged in discussions with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, focusing on evaluating the security landscape across the union territory. The Army Chief, along with high-ranking military officials, including Lt Gen Balbir Singh, reviewed operational readiness in the valley.
After the political meetings, General Seth is set to visit forward deployments along the Line of Control (LoC) and counter-insurgency grids. This tour is significant as it enables the new Army Chief to directly assess border security strategies and the effectiveness of active counter-terror measures under his operational doctrine, “VIJAY.” General Seth, the 31st Chief of the Army Staff, holds the highest active rank in the Indian Army and has previously served in various key positions within the military.
