On Tuesday, the Army secured their fourth gold medal at the Khelo India Winter Games 2026 in Gulmarg, placing them at the top of the medal standings. The competition witnessed the awarding of five more medals on the second day, with Nordic skier Kajal Kumari Rai of CRPF clinching her second consecutive gold. The Army now boasts a total of five gold medals, including the men’s ice hockey gold from the Ladakh leg.
Haryana maintained its second position in the medal tally with four gold medals earned by their skaters in Leh. Maharashtra closely follows with just one gold medal less. Maharashtra’s Kamiyaa Karthikeyan secured the state’s first gold in the ski mountaineering competition on Gulmarg’s Kongdoori slopes.
Aanchal Thakur, an Alpine skier from Himachal Pradesh, claimed her first gold in the giant slalom race at KIWG 2026, finishing comfortably with a time of 48.984 seconds. Kajal Kumari Rai continued her winning streak, capturing her second gold in the 10 km Nordic event for women, while Army’s Padma Namgail led an Army sweep in the men’s 10 km Nordic race.
