Arsenal Women have finalized the acquisition of Spain goalkeeper Misa Rodriguez on a permanent deal after her contract with Real Madrid ended. The 27-year-old, who spent six seasons with Real Madrid, has now joined the north London club. Misa, known as one of Europe’s top goalkeepers, captained Real Madrid during the 2025-26 season.
Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Misa started her youth career with CD Femarguin before moving to Atletico Madrid in 2017. She later played for Deportivo La Coruña, helping them secure a fourth-place finish in their first season in Spain’s top flight.
Misa made history at Real Madrid, where she set a club record of 215 appearances. She also clinched the Zamora Trophy twice, awarded to the goalkeeper with the best goals-conceded ratio in Spain’s top division. Internationally, she earned 24 caps for Spain and was part of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup-winning squad.
Arsenal’s Director of Women’s Football, Clare Wheatley, expressed her excitement over Misa’s arrival, highlighting her quality and experience. Head coach Renee Slegers praised Misa’s consistency, leadership, and communication skills, emphasizing her value to Arsenal’s goalkeeping team.
