Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lieutenant General K.T. Parnaik (retired) highlighted the significance of celebrating Statehood Days of various states as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” initiative for promoting national unity. The recent festivities marking the State Foundation Day of Gujarat and Maharashtra, along with Himachal Pradesh’s Statehood Day, were joyously observed at Lok Bhavan in Itanagar. Governor Parnaik stressed that such events allow people to share experiences, understand each other’s aspirations, and address challenges faced by communities residing away from their home states.
The celebrations not only bring individuals together but also nurture a sense of nationalism, unity, and collective identity. Governor Parnaik, accompanied by the First Lady of Arunachal Pradesh, Anagha Parnaik, graced the occasion, which saw a significant turnout of residents from Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Himachal Pradesh living in Arunachal Pradesh. The event, organized in line with the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, aimed to promote mutual respect, cultural exchange, and national integration.
The Governor commended the contributions of people from these states towards the progress and development of Arunachal Pradesh. Reflecting on the historical and cultural ties, he highlighted the enduring mythological connections with Gujarat and the impactful role played by individuals from Maharashtra in the social advancement of Arunachal Pradesh. The festivities featured a diverse array of cultural performances showcasing India’s rich traditions, including traditional dances, classical performances, and folk songs from different states.
