Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) highlighted the importance of public involvement in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll. He emphasized that every citizen plays a vital role in strengthening democratic institutions. The Governor, accompanied by the First Lady of the state, participated in the revision process by filling out their Enumeration Forms at Lok Bhavan in Itanagar.
The enumeration activity was overseen by Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer (DEO), Yupia, Lobsang Tsering, and the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of the 13-Itanagar (ST) Assembly Constituency, Dani Rikang. Lt Gen Parnaik’s personal involvement underscored the significance of active citizen participation in the democratic process and the need for accurate and inclusive electoral records. He stressed that public engagement is crucial for the success of the revision exercise.
The Governor urged all eligible citizens of Arunachal Pradesh to actively engage in the Special Intensive Revision program, which began on June 15 and will run until July 14, 2026. He expressed confidence in the state’s residents, known for their civic awareness and democratic values, to cooperate wholeheartedly for the successful completion of the revision process. Lt Gen Parnaik also called on young voters and first-time electors to verify their details and ensure their correct inclusion in the electoral roll to enhance their representation in the democratic system.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Yupia, Lobsang Tsering, announced that the draft electoral roll would be released on July 21, 2026, following the completion of the revision. He mentioned that any claims or objections could be submitted after the publication of the draft electoral roll as per the procedures outlined by the Election Commission of India.
