Arunachal Pradesh has unveiled its draft electoral rolls after finishing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) enumeration phase, with 81% of the state’s 8.87 lakh registered electors participating. Chief Electoral Officer Pawan Kumar Sain announced that those not listed in the draft can apply for inclusion between July 21 and August 20.
The CEO disclosed that 7,18,046 electors, constituting 81% of the state’s 8,87,505 registered voters as of June 2, submitted their Enumeration Forms by July 14. Reasons for the remaining 1,69,459 uncollected forms include electors permanently shifting (8.90%), being absent or untraceable (6.16%), deaths (2.88%), duplicate enrolment (0.56%), and other causes (0.60%).
Sain emphasized the Election Commission’s aim to include all eligible electors while eliminating ineligible entries through a transparent and legally mandated process. He assured that no names would be deleted without prior notice and a reasoned order by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO).
The final electoral rolls, post the SIR process, are set to be published on September 22, 2026. The successful enumeration phase completion was attributed to the collective efforts of election officials, District Election Officers (DEOs) from all 26 districts, 60 EROs, 206 AEROs, 248 Booth Level Officer Supervisors, and 2,233 Booth Level Officers (BLOs), with assistance from volunteers.
Acknowledging the active involvement of recognized political parties, Sain mentioned that 3,131 Booth Level Agents (BLAs), appointed by parties alongside their district presidents, contributed to the effective execution of the enumeration process.
