Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, also the AAP National Convenor, attended the Delhi Assembly’s Committee of Privileges meeting regarding the ‘Faansi Ghar’ issue. Kejriwal explained the declaration of a shaft as ‘Faansi Ghar’ in the Assembly premises for public viewing. The Committee, led by Pradyumn Singh Rajput and including various MLAs, is investigating the authenticity of the ‘Faansi Ghar’ inaugurated on August 9, 2022.
AAP Convener Saurabh Bharadwaj criticized the Committee’s actions, labeling it as a dark day in the city’s democratic history. Kejriwal’s request for live streaming of the Committee’s proceedings was denied by the Assembly secretariat. The Deputy Secretary clarified the confidentiality of the Committee’s proceedings and the lack of precedence for live streaming such events.
The Chairperson expressed surprise at Kejriwal’s lack of awareness despite his long tenure in the House. The Deputy Secretary highlighted that previous sittings of the Committee of Privileges were never telecast or live-streamed. The ongoing investigation aims to provide a factual and procedural assessment of the ‘Faansi Ghar’ inauguration issue.
