Voicing concern over the alleged demolitions of several religious Muslim sites in Rajasthan, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah to immediately halt the actions. Owaisi described the demolitions as ‘targeted’ and ‘illegal,’ emphasizing the need for intervention to stop further destruction. He highlighted the demolition of mosques, dargahs, and other Muslim religious sites in districts like Bikaner, Phalodi, Jaisalmer, and Barmer.
The AIMIM leader expressed his distress over the situation, citing specific instances such as the demolition of four mosques in Bikaner and nine mosques and dargahs in Phalodi, Jaisalmer, and Barmer. Owaisi also mentioned the issuance of notices to numerous other religious sites in the region. He raised concerns about the demolition of the approximately 250-year-old dargah of Hazrat Mahmood Shah Jilani in Jaisalmer, which is being justified on national security grounds.
Owaisi criticized the discriminatory nature of the demolitions, alleging that only Muslim places of worship are being targeted. He pointed out that authorities have cited reasons such as structures being built on grazing land or lacking necessary permissions. The AIMIM chief stressed that these actions are illegal and called for their immediate cessation, urging Union Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene and address the issue promptly.
