Veteran actress Asha Parekh recently appeared on Indian Idol, where she recreated the iconic song “Jis Gali Mein Tera Ghar” from the classic movie ‘Kati Patang’ with host Harsh Limbachiyaa. Parekh shared a behind-the-scenes anecdote from the original shoot of the song, involving superstar Rajesh Khanna in Nainital. She mentioned the chaos caused by a huge crowd that prevented them from shooting on a boat.
The overwhelming crowd led to chaos at the shooting location, with people throwing stones as they couldn’t meet Rajesh Khanna. Director Shakti Samanta had to halt the shoot due to safety concerns, calling in the police to clear the area. The movie ‘Kati Patang’, released in 1971, is considered a significant film in Hindi cinema, starring Rajesh Khanna and Asha Parekh in a story of love, sacrifice, and redemption.
‘Kati Patang’ is known for its timeless songs like ‘Yeh Shaam Mastani’ and ‘Pyar Deewana Hota Hai’, which continue to be popular even after more than 55 years since its release.
