Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia emphasized the increased responsibility towards the people of the state following the BJP-led NDA’s significant victory in the Assembly elections. Saikia highlighted the alliance’s commitment to focusing on development while safeguarding Assam’s identity, culture, and civilization. He assured that the government would prioritize fulfilling the promises outlined in their election manifesto and addressing key public concerns.
Saikia also commented on the Congress party’s performance in the polls, labeling it as a “humiliating defeat” and suggesting the need for accountability within the opposition party. He urged the Congress leadership to take appropriate steps to enhance the party’s status in the state, emphasizing the importance of value-based politics.
The BJP-led NDA secured a comfortable majority in the 126-member Assam Assembly, securing a third consecutive term for the saffron alliance. The BJP Legislature Party is set to convene shortly to elect its leader, marking the beginning of the new government formation process.
