Assam BJP leader Bhupen Borah stated that the Congress party in the state is now dominated by the minority community, led by Dhubri Lok Sabha MP Rakibul Hussain. Borah expressed concerns that the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) is under Hussain’s influence, leading to a lack of representation for all sections of Assamese society.
Borah, who was previously a prominent Congress leader and served as the president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, switched to the BJP before the Assembly elections. He highlighted that apart from one MLA, all Congress legislators in the Assembly belong to the minority community, indicating a shift in the party’s composition.
The BJP leader commended Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for the party’s increasing electoral achievements in the state. Borah also mentioned his earlier prediction regarding the political landscape post-assembly polls, which he believes has now been validated by recent events showcasing Hussain’s control over the Congress in Assam.
According to Borah, the BJP government in Assam was established with the support and hopes of the people, and he emphasized that the party will progress with strengthened resolve. He noted that the people of Assam have shown faith in the BJP-led administration, signaling a promising future for the state.
