Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the importance of manufacturing in achieving the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” on Monday. He mentioned that Assam is set to play a significant role in the nation’s industrial development. The state is actively working on developing various industrial sites under the BHAVYA initiative by the Government of India.
The Chief Minister revealed plans for eight priority industrial parks in Assam, with a projected investment potential of Rs 33,600 crore. These parks aim to enhance the state’s industrial ecosystem by improving infrastructure, streamlining business processes, and expediting project implementation for investors. The focus sectors include manufacturing, logistics, food processing, clean energy, petrochemicals, and related industries.
Under the BHAVYA initiative, Assam aims to offer a plug-and-play model for industries, providing essential infrastructure like roads, power supply, water connectivity, and common facilities. This approach is designed to reduce the setup time for businesses. The state government has been actively attracting industrial investments, leveraging its strategic location, improved connectivity, and policy support to position Assam as a key investment destination in eastern India.
Assam’s Chief Minister stressed the significance of industrial growth in driving employment opportunities and economic progress in the state. He reiterated the government’s commitment to collaborating closely with the central authorities to establish Assam as a prominent manufacturing and logistics hub in the Northeast region.
